Thanks for visiting, Jackie. Like you, my favorite pasttime (after writing, of course) is hanging out with readers and writers in person or Internetly (that’s probably not a word, but. . .)

Happy Holidays right backatcha and let’s make the New Year the best ever for all of us.

Sharon, is it really you? I’m aghast! So great hearing from you and terrific that you’re still writing and doing well at it. We need to keep in touch and we have a lot of catching up to do. Very best regards, my friend.

I think Earl’s post on the kindergarten talk is so wonderful – the concept could be used with all ages all over the world! We’ve invited Earl to post it on our blog for July 1 – at http://www.crimewriters.blogspot.com and I intend to keep it in my memory bank when I get low on mental energy! Thelma, you are so kind. My thanks to you and the other members for the honor of appearing on Crime Writers Blogspot. Meeting with those kindergarteners was a wonderful and memorable experience for me, and you’ve made it even more so. Warm regards to you.

I’ve known Earl for years and met him personally at a Dallas writer’s conference. He was the first editor (Futures Magazine) that really made me realize I might someday be a good mystery writer. Maybe he can show me how to run a blog. His examples make me want to try.

My fine good friend Dorothy, Futures Magazine and its founder Babs Lakey provided encouragement and inspiration for so many writers, and I was glad to be a small part of it. As for setting up and running a blog, I’ll tell you my secret: trial and error. I’m far from being an expert, but if I can help in any way, I’ll be happy to try. Best regards to you.

I just saw a post on “I Grew Up in South Baltimore” where you commented on having had Alice Geyer as your English teacher at SHS and laughed to myself. I never liked her. But when I graduated from Frostburg State in 1964 and was hired by Baltimore City to teach high school English, I was offered a position at Southern. When informed that Mrs. Geyer was still head of the department, I declined the position and went to Patterson High instead. No regrets! After teaching for 25 years in Baltimore, I’ve had several other careers, including writing two books with two friends about the good, bad, and ugly about aging – our true stories. Seriously, we hoped to inspire others to look forward to this age (I am now 70) and to know that we can reinvent ourselves at any time. I congratulate you on your writing and inspiring young people. You’re a credit to SHS and Mrs. Geyer’s encouragement! I’d love to meet you sometime. I have a good friend who graduated from Southern with me who lives in Plano, so I may visit there again. No matter what, it does make me happy to see South Baltimore kids do good! Joyce Bell Kramer

What a pleasure hearing from you, Joyce! I spent most of my life in South Bawlmer, but never run across anyone else from there. Please let me know if you visit Plano. I’d love to meet you in person. We’ll spend a few hours reminiscing about Southern, Federal Hill, the Baltimore Colts, the aroma from McCormick spices, steamed crabs and, of course, writing. Your books sound interesting and I want to read them. Warm regards to you.

I will let you know, Earl, if I get to travel to Plano again. I’m hankering for a road trip and a visit with my friend, so adding a visit with you would be even more fun. I live in Florida on the Gulf, so Texas is not that far. Take good care!

    Earl,

I saw your guest post at Make Mine Mystery. I love the idea of what you’re working on. In fact, I have been working on a similar concept but with a different twist. I wish you the best of luck with this book and with your permission, I would like to start following your blog.
